Hi Kirsty!
"strawman" - a weak argument or opposing point of view that is set up by a
speaker so that he can knock it down easily and appear to win an argument
or debate. Sometimes a strawman may represent an exaggerated position that
none of the speaker's opponents is in fact advocating-but the speaker hopes
that his listeners do not know this.
