I have to say, I'm not a great fan of things like this.

My group were approached ages back by a researcher working on some Noel
Edmonds show. We discussed the potentials of such an appearance (= money &
publicity), and dismissed the request. The show, needless to say, took
other groups with passionate interests in their "hobbies and pastimes" and
played up the "look at these daft buggers" joke for all it was worth.

Since we value what we do in terms of the quality of our research, and the
time spent making kit and rediscovering the past, I think it's easy to do
ourselves a disservice appearing in programmes such as this.
