Oh no Kirsty, I NEVER ignore the essential stupidity of the general public,
I NEVER assume that reasoned argument will convince them, and I NEVER 'make
offensive jokes' hoping that people will understand my 'black humour'.
I do however wish that the world wasn't filled with people who despite a
university degree or two, can't think their way out of a paper bag without
reading the tabloid press for instructions.
I do try to use reasoned argument even though it's hopeless as the
alternatives ( a. giving up entirely, b. resorting to terrorism and criminal
activity, or c. fighting against things with appeasment and 'fall back'
positions like 'dont ban anything, ok, just some swords, oh all right most
swords, ok all of em, fine by me') make me sick.
I do state things quite plainly, things break, people die, and 'nutters' who
'go postal' are not 'killers'. A 'killer' such as a terrorist would have
simply bombed the damm church flat. A 'nutter' is usually looking for a
spectacular way to commit suicide, if the police don't show up and do the
job for him, he does it himself.
And finally...
I have am not, never have been, and have no desire to be:-
A member of the NRA.
A handgun owner.
A Freemason (unless you count being the son of a Freemason).
An American (although the idea of a counrty where it's still permissible to
take pride in your own nationality, unlike the UK, has some appeal).
Ulrich von Bek, gentleman adventurer,
and still not killing 3500 people a year with a car.
