<< But,
some people would say that ANY firearm should be banned. I MUST
disagree with that, every free man should have the right to own a weapon
for his own safety. To say that no one needs to have a firearm and that
you can depend on the police to protect you is among the most stupid
things I have ever heard. How can a people be protected from criminals
unless they have the ability to protect themselves? Would you have a
policeman on every streetcorner? I wonder where the money would come
from to pay them. And I would not care to live someplace where
everywhere I turned I saw John Law standing on the corner.

The spirit of independence and self-reliance is alive and well in my
home and I intent to keep it that way.

Stuart, you give me hope that it has not died in Britain. >>

PISTOL BOY, 12, WOUNDS FOUR

Four schoolchildren were shot and wounded yesterday by a classmate with a
semi-automatic pistol.
Pupils were just arriving at Fort Gibson Middle School, 50 miles south-east
of Tulsa, Oklahoma, when a 12-year-old boy allegedly began shooting with the
9mm handgun. Two children were taken by helicopter to Tulsa hospitals.
They were a 12-year-old boy shot in both arms and a 13-year-old girl shot in
the face. Two boys went to a local clinic with minor injuries. Witnesses said
the suspect appeared to shoot at random at children as they gathered outside
the school.
Steve Wilmoth, superintendent of the school district, said: "Another student
just walked up and opened fire on them." A boy was arrested.

And on the same page:

FATHER SHOT CHILDREN BECAUSE HE 'COULD NOT SUPPORT THEM'

A FATHER who shot dead five of his seven children in Sacramento before
killing himself was depressed at being unable to support his family, friends
said.
Kao Xiong used a high - powered rifle to kill Kong Meng, seven, Lisa, five,
Kong Pheng, three, Peter, two, and Micky, one, at their one-bedroom flat on
Saturday.

There's more on this tragic story, will print it if you want it.
