It is not a crime. If it were there would be mass arrests at reenactment
shows across the UK.

Leia is correct being aware of your surroundings is important.
Roger muggers in the UK do not tend to carry guns.

Wrong! In the UK under certain situations you have the legal right to carry
an offensive weapon (ie knife,sword)
Also remember many items can be defined as an offensive weapon from a piece
of wood up.

An 8 foot spear fits into most medium size cars, a 9' spear will fit in a
larger car. It would be dangerous to have spear that splits into segments.
