May 1-4thVereniging voor Militaire Living HistoryBivouac and re-enactment at the fortress BourtangeThe place: Bourtange, a fortified village, amidst the moors of the Northeast of the Netherlands. The event: The village is occupied by a large number of French soldiers, desperate to defend this position at all costs, to prevent the allied forces to attack and occupy "La Hollande", the Northern provinces of the Empire. The Prussian army, aided by Dutch troops and armed peasents of the "Landstorm" (and, for this event also aided by British troops,) lay siege around this valuable strategic popsition. This event promises 4 days of authentical bivouacs, spectacular displays by all the different troops, major battles and several skirmishes around the countryside. Bourtange '97 is one of the biggest, most professional and authentical Napoleonic Re-enactment events there is, so come visit us!-
