de Bohun falls after Bruce smacks him over the head with his axe. This worked reasonably well, and the standard of kit used by the cavalry was good on the whole. Bruce's caparison should perhaps also have the border which is clear on the shield, and de Bohun should have a caparison with his arms on it, but these are minor points. The reason Bruce's axe didn't break as it should have is that the horses passed about 10 feet apart....
