The period of unrest in which came to be called the English Civil War when the Roundheads of the common people and the Cavaliers
of the the Gentry came to the fore in a conflict that ended up changing the whole constitutional basis of life in the country.
This culminating with the Cromwellian New Model Army bringing down the English Monarchy for a short period and commiting the first
act of Regicide by killing a reigning monarch. However it was to herald the start of the current political system in use for the
next five hundred years in England with an elected lower Parliament and a recreated Constitutional Monarchy ruling by right of
Parliament.
Major internal strife and conflicts as the population, lead by Oliver Cromwell fought the King's men at various battles around
England including Duppers Hill and Knaresbrook.
