Talk:Main Page
From ReenactWiki
Everyone who has registered should be able to join in this discussion and I would welcome comments and suggestions.
Firstly the idea behind the wiki is for a resource of reliable research links. I would expect this to be the main sub category unless there are any other suggestions.
Secondly it may well be an idea to have a seciot for things that are just useful links, hints and tips generally.
Lastly I do feel that there should be a general anything goes section but I am willing to be lead on this one.
Once we have decided the format of the site I will lock this page so that it cannot be changed by anyone apart from super users, and we will need some of those!
Comments? --David Debono 13:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
It's going to be hard to get things running quickly you will probably need to unlock the new pages ability else we will be waiting ages for people to get around to things that might not immediately strike people as interesting but others have good links. --Harlequin 16:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
A good point. I was wondering quite how to open up discussion and also allow people to add new pages *for* discussion. Maybe we tie down the categories and allow creation of pages in sub-sections? --Histrenact 20:32, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Lost me there. I'm not new to Wiki's and as such I am used to people being able to expand the articles (usually limited to those who have logged in due to SpamBots) and the Sysops trim the dross, daft comments and spam away with their magical powers (ie rollback etc). It allows it to expand quickly. Currently with 3(?) peopel able to alter pages, we are going to be years away from something even remotely useful.--Harlequin 17:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm well I am to managing wikis.....
I completely understand the permissioning side of things now and have opened up the authenticated users to be able to add pages. That, I think, is what you were discussing.
I agree that it will not tae off if people cannot add contribution....

- Well I still seem to be unable to make a new page. I would like to add info to an Early Medieval page.--Harlequin 19:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
