A long period of English History including the Elizabethan reign with such notables as William Shakespeare and Walter Raleigh. A period of English and Spanish expansion especially with the European discovery of the "New World" of the Americas, both North and South.
The Georgian period in England and the corresponding French rise in elegance possibly makes this one of the most beautiful periods in Western History. However, with the later Kings of England becoming increasingly more incapable of rule the period also includes the bizarre event of the English Parliament inviting a foreigner, Mary, to be Queen of England with her husband, William III, as King.
Wars against the Spanish, French and the Americas led to a period of little peace although during this time great discovories were made in the Arts and Sciences, especially in the Italian States, with men such as Isaac Newton the English Mathematician, Galileo Galilei of Pizza and later such notables as John Trevithic and Captain James Cook, among others, increasing scientific knowledge and helping to change the whole of society.
All of this not withstanding the great changes in working practices with the start of the industrialisation of the known world. Inventions such as the "Spinning Jenny" and work place automation using water and wind power changed for all time working practices and the production of goods.
